“Alive Inside” a documentary.
My Aunt is currently suffering from Alzheimers and is institutionalized. She loves music. I think I am going to make her a playlist. I’d love for her to feel like herself again, if only for a few songs.
This video is an excerpt from the documentary ‘Alive Inside’, which examines the ability of music to awaken memories in patients suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. The film has its world premiere at the Rubin Museum in New York City from next Wednesday April 18th through Saturday, April 21st.
-Thanks Molly. We miss you.

I have decided to take my talents to the White House for this year’s Easter celebration.
The 134th annual White House Easter Egg Roll information provided by our TM, @iamjeffcohran
On Monday April 9, 2012, the First Family will host the 134th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. This year’s theme is “Let’s Go, Let’s Play, Let’s Move” and more than 35,000 people will be joining us on the South Lawn for games, stories, and, of course, the traditional egg roll on the Lawn.
In addition to all the fun and games, the day’s activities — which will include sports courts and cooking demonstrations — will help educate families on smart ways to incorporate healthy eating and exercise choices into their daily routines, which are key pillars of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. Ticket holders are encouraged to read the security information and the list of prohibited material before their arrival.
The Egg Roll itself is a race, where children push an egg through the grass with a long-handled spoon. Surrounding events include appearances by White House personalities in Easter Bunny costumes, speeches and book-reading by Cabinet secretaries, and exhibits of artistically-decorated eggs.
According to an undocumented tradition, Dolley Madison, the wife of President James Madison, began the event in 1814 and hundreds of children brought their decorated eggs to join in games. The original site was on the grounds of the United States Capitol, but in 1877 a new lawn was planted and the gardeners cancelled the event. Congress then passed a law making it illegal to use the grounds as a children’s playground. At the request of a number of children, including his own, the then President Rutherford B. Hayes and his wife Lucy Hayes brought the event to the White House lawns. The practice was abandoned during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency, and revived by Mamie Eisenhower during her husband’s term in office. Mrs. Eisenhower opened the event to black children for the first time. In 2009, President Barack Obama formally invited same-sex couples and their children to attend the Easter Egg Roll. Gay and lesbian-led families had attended the Egg Roll in previous years.
On April 13, 2009, the Obamas hosted their first White House Easter egg roll. The theme “Let’s go play” was meant to encourage young people to lead healthy, active lives. Celebrities such as J.K. Rowling and Justin Bieber attended the egg roll in 2010. It was featured in the 2007 film National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
When life gives you lemons…
I am in. I am absolutely in. Today is April 2nd, which means that I have just over a month to get my body and my mind in shape for my show. It has been about 20 months since the last time that I stood on stage alone and had the conversation that is Any1man. In that 20 months I have probably been in more than 20 countries and that alone is enough to inform my experience as a Black man on this planet.
I am excited. But no daunting task comes without adversity. This one is no different. The last two weeks have been filled with adversity from the most unexpected sources. Now, as a sensitive person I have to admit, I let the Enemy get the best of me. But I am back, and I am ready to fight. Perhaps I needed the motivation, perhaps I needed the humility, perhaps I didn’t need either.
Ah well, I like fresh lemonade much better than spilled milk any day.
